Effective August 10, 2026
We review credible reports of material errors in our website information, catalogue metadata, credits and policy copy.
What this policy covers
This policy covers material factual errors, inaccurate title or contributor metadata, incorrect credits, broken or misleading links, and website copy that no longer reflects an approved operational position.
It does not require a change merely because a visitor disagrees with an editorial judgment, opinion, description or lawful creative choice.
A useful correction request
- The page address and the exact words, field, image or credit concerned
- A concise explanation of why the information is inaccurate or incomplete
- A reliable primary source, record or other evidence that supports the request
- The replacement wording or outcome requested
- Your name, connection to the matter and preferred response method
Review and response
Routine requests are acknowledged within two business days. We aim to resolve the matter or provide a substantive progress update within five business days, although rights, legal, archival or third-party checks may require more time.
We may contact the person reporting the issue, the affected contributor or rights holder, or another reliable source before changing a record.
How corrections appear
Straightforward website or metadata errors may be corrected directly. When an error is material to a published statement, we may add a dated clarification or correction note so the change is understandable.
A correction does not imply wrongdoing. We keep an appropriate internal record of material decisions and the evidence considered.
Rights and legal concerns
Copyright, privacy, defamation, takedown and contractual concerns require the relevant facts and authority to act. Use the Rights & licensing route for rights matters and the Website & accessibility route for privacy or website concerns.
