Elizabeth L. A. Kamara is a Sierra Leonean educator, writer, poet and editor whose work connects literary practice with teaching. She formerly headed the English Unit at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and has helped carry Sierra Leonean poetry into classrooms and wider literary conversations.
Writing and scholarship
Kamara has published three poetry anthologies and contributed to publications including African Literature Today, Leoneanthology and Revista Prometheo.
Recognition and education
She was named Lecturer of the Year at Fourah Bay College for 2021/22. Her poetry was selected by the West African Examinations Council for inclusion in the BECE and WASSCE programmes for 2026–2030.
Editor of LET HER BE
Kamara co-edited LET HER BE: An Anthology of Poems on Women’s Sexual Health & Rights with Oumar Farouk Sesay. The anthology gathers Sierra Leonean and African voices around women’s rights, resilience and lived experience.
